Adam Schachter

“I enjoy the challenge of tackling complex fact patterns and legal issues and distilling them down to an understandable and powerful argument.”

Adam M. Schachter is the Managing Partner of Gelber Schachter & Greenberg, P.A. and is one of its co-founders.   Adam has a national litigation practice, representing clients in trial and appellate courts across the country on a wide range of legal matters.   Combining litigation savvy with a deep understanding of business issues, Adam has the proven ability to assist his clients in both the courtroom and the boardroom, where he regularly assists clients in resolving business disputes quietly and cost effectively.

Having been recognized repeatedly by his peers as one of Florida’s top lawyers and named one of the Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in South Florida, Adam has been lead counsel in a number of high-profile, high-stakes legal battles.  Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Adam has tried and litigated complex business disputes in Florida, New York, Delaware, California, Illinois, and across the country.  Adam also represents international clients in resolving their business disputes in the United States and in foreign jurisdictions.  Adam has also represented clients in state and federal government investigations and administrative proceedings, and he also practices in the area of land use and real estate litigation, in which he has represented developers, landowners and several Florida municipalities in the courts and before government and regulatory agencies.

Adam also has a robust appellate practice. He has argued before the Florida Supreme Court on more than one occasion, securing precedent setting victories for his clients on important constitutional issues. Most recently,  Adam argued before the Florida Supreme Court on behalf of the sponsor of a proposed constitutional amendment on the issue of casino gambling, securing a favorable ruling for his client that will allow the proposed amendment to appear on the ballot in Florida.  Adam also twice represented a voting rights organization before the Florida Supreme Court, prevailing both times on issues of significant importance to Florida voters.  Adam has also argued numerous appeals before the Florida state appellate courts and the federal appellate courts.

Adam received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and then attended Georgetown University Law Center.  After spending his early years at a prominent law firm in New York representing clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, Adam moved to South Florida to serve as a law clerk to Judge Patricia Seitz in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  Following his clerkship, Adam became a partner at one of Florida’s most respected law firms, where he represented companies, local governments and individuals in all manner of commercial disputes and complex litigations.

In addition to the practice of law, Adam also serves on the board of directors for Transition, Inc., which helps provide job training and placement services to ex-offenders.  Adam also previously served as chairman of a Florida Bar Grievance Committee.

Born and raised in New York, Adam has made Miami his home for the past fifteen years with his wife, three children, and two dogs.
