Swathi Shanmugasundaram joined Gelber Schachter & Greenberg, P.A. following a clerkship with Judge Nancy Abudu of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Before receiving her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, Swathi worked at a number of influential public interest organizations. As a Senior Research Analyst at the Southern Poverty Law Center, Swathi published over 20 articles, prepared significant long-form reports, delivered presentations at conferences, and participated in a congressional briefing. As a Policy Manager and Lobbyist at Asian Americans Advancing Justice, she organized coalitions and directed lobbying efforts to promote immigrant and voter rights. At American Oversight, Swathi served as a Senior Researcher, investigating government corruption, drafting presentations and press reports, and developing partnerships.
Swathi graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Public Policy and minors in Asian Studies and Intergroup Relations Education. At UCLA, she specialized in public interest law and policy.
Swathi lives in Coconut Grove with her partner and enjoys cooking, gardening, and biking.
